Generally, there are so many foods that are unhealthy choices for day-to-day consumption. These found their way into our diet and constitute the majority of what we eat every day. They often have negative effects on the body and land you into diabetes, reduce the quality of your health, and pave the way to many other diseases. The three foundational problems that a diabetic patient is dealing with are insulin resistance, excess sugar in the blood, and insulin overproduction (excess insulin in the blood). If you are going to reverse type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, these three problems must be tackled, and once this is done you can reverse the condition no matter how long you have had it. We have been failing to achieve this because the current management approaches for type two diabetes only focus on excess sugar in the blood, leaving out the main problems – insulin resistance and excess insulin. In layman’s terms, diabetes is a condition in which there is excess sugar in the blood. Your body needs sugar for the day to day activities and we get this sugar basically by eating or from the food we have eaten before which has been stored as fat in our body. When you eat, insulin is released from the pancreas to take up sugar from the blood into the cell that needs it. Unfortunately, in diabetes, the cells of the body have become less sensitive to insulin so insulin is released but could not perform its duty as a result the body releases more insulin and the cycle continues. The first problem is that the cell of your body becomes resistant to insulin and this start with the cells of the body being less sensitive. By this, it means that you eat foods that supply the body with sugar as expected and insulin is being released to get this sugar into the cells of the body which are already drowning in the sugar and does not allow any sugar to come in. At this point, we say they are resistant to insulin because they are resistant to its action. As insulin’s service is no longer required, the cells are full hence the sugar piles up in the blood which is ultimately dangerous This is the second problem. As long as there is excess sugar in the blood, the pancreas keeps receiving signals to release insulin to force the excess blood sugar into the cells of the body and this leads to excess blood insulin which has its deleterious effect. So, not only do you have excess sugar in the blood you now also have excess insulin which is a bigger problem than the excess sugar. Hence to successfully reverse diabetes we must deal with insulin resistance, insulin overproduction, and high blood sugar Diabetes has been viewed as a life sentence up till now because we only focus on dealing with high blood sugar which is nothing but a mere symptom. If we deal with the cause of high blood sugar successfully, we would end diabetes once and for all and this is very achievable.
